Rabindra Sarovar Lake - A green oasis

Rabindra Sarobar Lake is known as the ‘lungs of south Kolkata’. Situated at Southern Avenue, almost 175 species of birds call this place their home. Nearly 1/3rd of them are migratory. This 192 acre recreational area is a biodiversity hotspot in true sense. Lots of trees, some of them are century old, and some large water bodies have made this place a favourite place for different types of flora and fauna. This is also ‘the most’ favourite place for the Kolkata birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. We are just 2 mins walking distance from the gate of this green oasis.

Birla Mandir - Peace discovered

Birla Mandir is a stunning structure that adorns the streets of Ballygunge, Kolkata dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. An imposing structure amalgamating traditional style of architecture with modern reflections, the temple is the perfect specimen of craftsmanship and engineering genius. As the dusk approaches, the beautiful Birla Mandir sight to behold adorned with electric diyas and gleaming chandeliers. Kalighat Temple - A divine experience

One of the 51 Shakti Sthals of India, it is one of the most visited Kali temples in India. The spot is where the toes of Sati’s right foot fell during Shiva’s Tandava dance. It is said that Kalighat was where Chowranga Giri, a Dasanami monk, worshipped Ma Kali with great austerity and has thus been known as a religious centre for Ma Kali worship for centuries. This 200-year-old temple embodies the principle that only divine knowledge can subsume sodomized ego, akin to an Asura. This transcendence will lead to moksha, as Ma Kali guides all through their devoted worship of her. We are just 10 mins walk from this temple complex.

Tollygunj Club

What earlier was an Indigo plantation and later a Royal Park, is now the popular and elite country club called Tollygunge Club. Established by Sir William Cruikshank in 1895, it is nothing but 100 acres of lush green lawns, tropical flowers and rare plants. The green space is home to many exotic species of birds and has a book titled ‘Birds & Trees of Tolly’ dedicated to it. This 18-hole golf course also has 6 tennis hard courts, 2 swimming pools, equestrian training center, 4 squash courts and billiards tables.  While the other clubs have restricted entry and allow only members, this club welcomes tourists. Steak Factory - Kolkata's Supreme Steak Destination

A very soothing ambiance with a very young and chilled out crowd offering great variety of meat. Among all the dishes tried, minced mutton , Roasted Lamb and the Pork Ribs were the most standout dishes for me. The deserts are slightly on the costlier side and very less in quantity but the meat dishes are all very nice. Definitely is a must try place if you have a lust for continental dishes. The ambiance is nice and cozy. The decor is clean with Hollywood themes and bands on one side and during the evenings the dim lights and gentle breeze on the rooftop is simply mesmerizing. If art enthralls you, then Gallery Gold is definitely a place we would recommend you to visit. You can check out the exquisite paintings from local artists when it holds photography exhibitions. Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture

Southern Avenue

Southern Avenue, is a avenue in south Kolkata connecting Gol Park with Rashbehari crossing. It falls under the Ballygunge area. It is a 3 k.m. long road with a centre boulevard that runs east to west from Gariahat Road on the east to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Road on the west touching Sarat Bose Road (near Lake Stadium) on its way. Many prominent Roads either originate from or merge into Southern Avenue on its course either to its north or south. Southern Avenue is dotted with beautiful private bungalows and several high rise apartments. One of the important places on the avenue is the Birla Academy of Art and Culture Museum which has collections include paintings of the medieval period as well as modern art and some archaeological specimens.  We are about 5 mins walk from the S.P. Mukherjee Road end of this avenue.

What's Up Cafe

Sitting on the 6th floor on Southern Avenue, What’s Up Cafe is many a people’s favourite chilling spot. Head here after office hours and sit back for hours gossiping with your gang. Spread over two  floors, the lower floor has indoor seating upon entering.

It then opens to a beautiful open rooftop space, overlooking the lush green boulevard of Southern Avenue, facing the Rabindra Sarobar lake. You won’t be getting so close to nature, with sky, water and greenery at your disposal.

Probably the coolest part about the café is the jacuzzi where you can dip your feet and sit like a bawse. We are 10 minutes from this place
